Professional Skills
Purple has obtained a copyright on the
methodology for mapping Professional Skills.
Professional Skill is “What” of the job and is catalogued for each
functional area. E.g. Within the HR domain, there will be different
sets of Professional Skills for Human Resources, Industrial
Relations and Administration. Similarly, within Engineering domain,
the professions can be categorized as Production, Maintenance,
Design and Development and Manufacturing Engineering.
Within each of the sub domain areas, the Purple process enables the
Company to identify the skill set and create definitions so
as to have a common understanding and language across employees and
levels.
The skills are then calibrated as Basic Awareness, Working
Knowledge, Fully Operational, Expertise and Leading Edge.
For each unique position, a template is created of the intensity of
the skill required to satisfactorily perform the job and achieve the
desired outcomes. Thereafter, each incumbent of the position is
mapped by the immediate superior as well as an internal customer,
and internal supplier and superior’s superior acts as the authority
to normalize the ratings. Each rating must have a justification with
observed data in support of the rating.
Purple has created a methodology to compute the Human Capital
Index based on the gaps.
The above mapping enables an organization to clearly focus on real
needs and derive maximum value for every rupee spent on training.
This methodology also enables the company to compute the ROI on
training.
